A stylishly low, elegant, and contemporary aesthetic

The Dartmouth features a unique bed surround and sunken base, which holds the mattress in a lower position for a stylishly low, elegant, and contemporary aesthetic.


The headboard
The Dartmouth headboard is handmade in Devon from only the finest natural and organic materials. Its classic shape is padded with generous helpings of our locally sourced organic wool, which we buy direct from the farm gates of Soil Association certified farmers just a few miles from our workshop.


The base
Within the Dartmouth base your mattress sits comfortably low to the ground, supported by sprung beech slats for added comfort, and hugged by a sturdy timber base, all hand made to order in our Devon workshop. Handily - for the purposes of access - the frame comes apart into 4 pieces for ease of delivery through narrower spaces.

Very few beds are built the way we build them

Handmade in Devon, properly

We handcraft our beds in our Devon workshop using traditional joinery techniques which ensure they last a lifetime. Unlike most bed frames which are simply stapled together, ours are glued (using a non-toxic glue) and screwed for a much sturdier and longer lasting construction. And because we make everything ourselves, we’re always happy to accommodate bespoke requests like making headboards taller or wider, or swapping the standard feet for something different.

The natural difference

Many of the same natural and organic fibres in our mattresses feature in our beds too. We start with FSC-certified timber for the frame and layer on organic coir or recycled denim depending on the design. The headboard is then wrapped in locally sourced organic wool before being finished with one of our natural fabrics. The result is a natural bed, completely free of synthetic foam and chemical fire retardants, which will provide years of comfort.

What You Need To Know About Delivery

  • When can I expect delivery?

    Our current delivery time for beds is 4-5 weeks. We’ll be in touch the week before your delivery date to discuss a convenient time and talk through any access issues for your property.

  • How will my bed arrive?

    We will deliver your bed in a reusable duffel bag (rather than plastic), with the base split or in one piece depending on the option you select above. Please consider whether your bed will fit up the stairs when making this choice!

  • Will you help me build it?!

    Yes, fear not! Our beds are delivered by our own two person team who will take it up to your bedroom, assemble it for you and bring the reusable duffel bags back to our workshop.

    The most beautiful simple design bed!

    This organic hand crafted bed made in UK , made out of organic wool supplied from local farmers has been the best decision for us. The simplicity and timeless design which makes a statement in the centre of the bedroom. Less is more!!
